Milan (ANTARA News/AKI) - Italian Serie A football team Inter Milan football team has declined to play against top Egyptian team Zamalek in Cairo next month citing concerns over security in the upheaval-hit North African country.

Inter won five successive Serie A league titles between 2006 and 2010 and came in second place in 2011.

Inter was invited to play a friendly match against Cairo`s Zamalek Sporting Club to as part of the Egyptian squad`s centennial celebration.

Egypt is currently governed by a transitional military council after longtime leader Hosni Mubarak stood down on 11 February following three weeks of unrest. At least 840 people were killed and more than 6,000 were wounded during the uprising, according to human rights group Amnesty International.

Protests continue in Egypt amid popular discontent at the pace of democratic and social reform and the bringing to justice of all figures suspected of crimes committed during Mubarak`s corrupt and brutal rule.
