Manado (ANTARA News) - Since the activity of Mt Lokon in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, had been increasing at 9.34 am local time yesterday, there had been 321 tremors, head of the Lokon and Mahawu mountain`s observation post in Kakaskasen, Tomohon, Farid R Bina, said in Tomohon, Friday.

Farid said the tremors had been increasing without any sign of a decline.

"If this goes on, a very large eruption may break out," he said.

Yesterday at 00.00 to 06.00 local time a distant tectonic quake, two deep volcanic quakes, 11 shallow volcanic quakes, and five puffing tremors had been recorded.

In the following six hours, there had been four deep volcanic quakes, 24 shallow volcanic tremors and a puffing quake.

At 12.00-18.00 local time, the observation post personnel registered a tectonic tremor, 32 deep volcanic quakes, 70 deep and puffing volcanic tremors.

At 18.00-24.00, the tremors had been increasing with three distant tectonic quakes, 35 deep volcanic tremors, 82 shallow volcanic and 3 puffing quakes.

In the meantime at 00.00-06.00, there were 2 distant tectonic quakes, 20 deep volcanic tremors, 41 shallow volcanic and two puffing quakes.

Farid warned residents, especially those living in quake-prone areas 2.5 kilometers from the cauldron, to stay alert.
